The law of competitive driving is tough - but it's the law. Despite a very fine weekend with three victories and six podium places, Renault Trucks - MKR Technology finished up taking second place in the European Truck Racing Championship. However, the "Junior" team pulled off a superb performance by coming in just behind to take third place! The team fought it out to the end and can be proud of its achievement. It is already focusing on the next season. As popular as ever, the Le Mans 24 Hour Truck Racing event drew a record crowd of 53,700 visitors, 4% up on the 2010 edition. It was also an opportunity for Renault Trucks to continue triumphantly celebrating the Magnum's 20 year history.

During the weekend's first session of trials on the legendary Bugatti track in Le Mans, the three Premium Racing trucks kicked off in the finest style by clocking up the three best times. Unfortunately, the disqualification of two trucks then prevented the team from benefiting from this advantage. This was made up for by Adam Lacko's podium place and then, later in the day, his victory in the second race. On Sunday, it was Marküs Oestreich's turn to score a superb victory in the third race, where he was joined on the podium by Adam Lacko, in third place. The same Marküs rounded up the season in fine style, since he was first to cross the line in the last race of the weekend, and of the 2011 season. While the second Markus, Bosigër, came in third.

Even if, this time, the Renault Trucks-MKR Technology team had to relinquish the crown, it did fight hard right to the end and its good results in Le Mans enable it to take second place with 654 points. The Junior team, made up of Adam Lacko and Anthony Janiec, who have both had a superb season, finished just behind them to take third place in the overall rankings with 538 points. In the driver rankings, Adam Lacko took third place (317 points), Markus Oestreich was fourth (287 points) and Marcus Bosiger, sixth (262 points). The whole team is now looking forward to the 2012 season with the same objective - to be the champions.

Meanwhile, in the French Cup competition, the Aravi team, made up of Renault Trucks staff members, had a very exciting weekend. Throughout the two days, Lionel Montagne and his main rival battled it out fiercely with only a few tenths of a second separating them. In the end, he came out the winner of this duel, carrying off the French Championship crown at the wheel of his Premium: a fine victory for this former racing car driver in his first truck racing season!

The 24 Hour Truck Racing event once again attracted large numbers of enthusiasts, with over 53,700 people coming to the track for these two highly-charged days. After feting the Magnum’s 20 years of success at Magny-Cours in September, Renault Trucks wanted to take advantage of the Le Mans magic to continue these celebrations. Several Magnums were therefore lined up around the track. One of them was equipped with a semi-trailer in which a photo exhibition recalled the major landmarks in this legendary vehicle’s history. But the highpoint of the weekend was the parade of decorated trucks on the Bugatti track. It was led by five Magnums representing the vehicle’s five generations and driven by five customers. Accompanied by superb fireworks, these Magnums were applauded by the spectators and a concert of horns from the other trucks. As at Magny-Cours in September, everyone was able to fully appreciate the enthusiasm and attachment customers have for this vehicle.

Throughout the weekend, Renault Trucks welcomed over 1,000 French and international customers, including several from South Africa, Russia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. There were also 60 member drivers of the TruckDriver Club specially invited by Renault Trucks France who were seated next to the Renault Trucks-MKR Technology stand where they were able to watch the races from the Renault Trucks terrace overlooking the track. Now, with the 2011 Truck Racing season just ending, the focus is already on 2012 for the new season and fresh ambitions.
