LE MANS : ONE RACE FROM THE END OF THE SEASON, RENAULT TRUCKS STILL LEADS THE EUROPEAN TRUCK RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
Saturday was difficult for the Renault Trucks-MKR Technology Team trucks which did not feature amongst the front runners. On Sunday, the team performed more to its usual standard: Markus Oestreich won the first race of the day and Markus Bösiger finished 3rd. During the second race, the two Markuses finished 2nd and 3rd. In the rankings, the two drivers have held onto their positions. Markus Bösiger keeps 2nd place with 293 place and Markus Oestreich 4th with 250 points. In the team rankings Renault Trucks-MKR Technology still leads the way with 625 points. But it is not over yet for the title and there is still everything to play for in the season-closer at Jarama in Spain on October 2nd and 3rd for a final round
which is going to be a real show-down.
More than ever, Le Mans was the stage for a cut-throat battle between the different drivers. ln the Super Pôle in the Saturday race, the first five trucks finished within just five-tenths of a second of each other, with Markus Bösiger missing pole position by seven-thousandths of a second. This made Truck Racing look more like Formula 1 racing than anything else!
